Bear Creek Cemetery Pavilion Sign

I drive by this sign every time I make a trip into town. I've never noticed that the off-center lettering seems to indicate a word has been covered. I wonder what that word was?

Bates Motel

While in Mississippi for the Double Decker Art Fair in Oxford, we stayed at the Bates' Motel.

Or, maybe, it was the Days Inn in Batesville, Mississippi?

Signs, Signs: Get In

Considering the condition of the car, the best advice might be: Find a different ride.

Signs, Signs: No Skating

I obeyed the lakeside signs and neither went skating nor tried my hand at ice fishing.

Signs, Signs: No Trash

Stephens Lake Park (Columbia, MO)

One might wonder about the purpose of a trash receptacle with a sign requesting no trash be deposited. The photo below explains.

On subsequent visits to Stephens Lake Park, the Dog Waste Station was gone. Perhaps the lack of compliance had something to do with its removal.

Signs, Signs: Daisy Queen

One of our local fast food emporiums.

And its customer service policy.

After a couple of weeks confined to our homestead by an ice and snow covered road, my wife and I finally made a trip into town on Monday.  In addition to several stop for replenishing food and supplies,  we celebrated Valentine's Day by enjoying a hot fudge sundae at the Daisy Queen.

What's Your Sign? --- #1

No parking sign for monthly street sweeping, I suppose. Taken at the Shaw Art Fair on Flora Place in St. Louis, MO.

Caution: Stumbling Stoners

You just never can tell when a stumbling stoner might step out onto the roadway.

On La Harpe Blvd behind the Statehouse Convention Center in beautiful downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.

La Harpe Blvd is named after Jean Baptiste BĂ©nard de La Harpe (1683–1765). La Harpe was a French officer, trader, and explorer. He was the first European explorer to record the existence of a large rocky bluff on the north bank of the Arkansas River. This major outcrop of rock is just upstream from a smaller rock, where it was possible to ford the river. Had La Harpe recorded the existence of the smaller rock, it would have been the first recorded mention of the location that eventually became Little Rock, AR. Regardless of this oversight, Little Rock named a road running along the Arkansas River after La Harpe.

No Skating

With a temperature in the eighties, I did not do any skating -- and the only ice I fished was from out of our ice chest.

Warning Sign

My neighbor's warning sign: If you can read this, you're in range.

With a sign like this, you don't have to waste money on "Welcome" mats.
